Quick Start Overview

This page serves as a quick start guide to get you familiar with the basics of Tactical Analyst web and have you up and running right away.

Application Overview

Tactical Analyst is Common Operational Picture software that integrates incident, tactical and operational data in a shared environment to support situational awareness & collaboration. It supports the entire lifecycle of an incident supporting multiagency use with seamless synchronization and sharing of data between different users, agencies and devices for tracking and managing incidents.

1. Incident List: View a list of all active incidents statewide or based on your set filters.

2. Resource List: View a list of all resources statewide or based on your set filters.

3. Forecasts: View weather and risk forecasts for a 4 day period from WFA-E FireCast.

4. Manage Layers: Turn on and off map layers, adjust transparency, create quickmaps and add layers.

5. Bookmarks: Create and manage bookmarks.

6. Print Map: Generate simple and advanced PDF maps including IAP, Briefing and Ops maps.

7. Basemaps: Select different basemaps for the map canvas.

8. Navigation: Buttons to zoom in and out, zoom to a defined extent and a map scale.

9. Search: Search for places, locations and incidents.

10. Pinned Incident(s): Incidents that have been “Pinned” can quickly be accessed here.

11. Pinned Resource(s): Resources that have been “Pinned” can quickly be accessed here.

12. Map Tools: Access map tools including coordinates, measure, legend, identify and impact analysis.

13. Active Filters: View and manage all active filters for incidents, resources and more. Quickly open the filters panel.

14. User Menu: Access your profile, additional links such as the Campus and other information about the application.

15. Map Canvas: The map canvas provides the common operational picture integrating incident, tactical and operational data. Click on incidents, resources and other items on the map for more details.

16. Environment: This alert identifies the environment you are working in: Training or Production.

Incident List

View a list of all active incidents statewide or based on your set filters. The incident list is one of the main ways to find and select an incident to work with.

Resource List

View all resources statewide or based on your set filters. Select a resource to zoom to their location on the map.

Forecast Tool

View 3-day weather and risk forecasts from Wildfire Analyst Enterprise to identify high fire risk areas.

Manage Layers

Turn on and off map layers, adjust transparency, create quickmaps and add layers.

Bookmarks

Create, view and manage bookmarked locations and zoom extents on the map.

Print Map

Generate simple and advanced PDF maps including IAP, Briefing and Ops maps.

Basemaps

Select different basemaps for the map canvas.
